Hello Pegasus...
first explain to me if there is any religious ritual
done by humans which is supposed to be good for
animals... ?
are u talking about the pooja performed to cows ?
That does'nt do any harm and it is supposed to cleanse and
beautify the cow .
As for other rituals...who says its for the good of the animals...

ya before the sacrifice.... the pundit/the muslim butcher asks the animal if he wants to be sacrificed.. and then the animal nods its head.

//are u talking about the pooja performed to cows ?
That does'nt do any harm and it is supposed to cleanse and
beautify the cow .//
ya people take the cow to their marble floorings... where the animal is barely able to walk and the calf trips and injures itself.

then should I say about elephants...
or about snakes?

//As for other rituals...who says its for the good of the animals...//
thats why i am asking... why are u r grabbing all the arms of that poor thing?

Hey Pegasus...
//ya before the sacrifice.... the pundit/the muslim butcher asks the animal if he wants to be sacrificed.. and then the animal nods its head.//

have u seen the fattened calf nod its head ?
I am not a great fan of 'Kosher' or 'Halal'..though
it does have very valuable reasons favoring the humans..
its utmost cruel to the animals.

//ya people take the cow to their marble floorings... where the animal is barely able to walk and the calf trips and injures itself//

and the horses used in movies where its expected to do
a somersault...the calf killed if not a female one and then stuffed and put in front of the cow to dupe it and get the milk..the list goes on and on..

One of the clients gave a large live fish to be cooked..its in a tank being fed instead of becoming the feed.

//thats why i am asking... why are u r grabbing all the arms of that poor thing? //
hey..have'nt u ever seen an infact being fed with a spoon?

unfuel the planet said...

who would do that.... its the ox that is valuable .. cow hardly gives any milk... or has a commercial value. infact if u look at the ban on beef.... it was because if u kill the ox.. there won't be anybody left to plough the field.

//One of the clients gave a large live fish to be cooked..its in a tank being fed instead of becoming the feed.//

Sorry..will explain better...usually clients get some stuff

One gave a live fish a large one to be cooked and eaten.
I did not have the heart to eat the fish I had seen alive..and
so did not cut the fish but put it in a tank and am feeding it now...same happened with a rooster a client gave...so now
my ppl have banned live gifts from clients :(

even with a dropper , u need to hold the little one's hands and the hold the face in place or she'd wld turn and toss and the

those are harsh words....
the ox, bullocks are very valuable in Indian villages. they are used as draught animals.... run the watermill, pull the cart, plough the fields. they are eco friendly power plants of the rural india. and before the arrival of jersey/foreign cows.. it was more economical to produce buffalo milk.. which is more in quantity, thicker, and has more fat.

//better...usually clients get some stuff

Pegasus..I meant , hardly do u see farmers using oxen for ploughing these days..there are tractors everywhere and they take it on hire. Jersey and other cows are only fancy stuff..the milk vendors still depend on buffalos.

and I know for a fact that when a buffalo gives birth to young ones , the male ones are killed and only the female is taken care of. that is bcos the money spend on rearing it is not worth the returns . Lot of dairy owners are against giving the cattle to slaughter house. and even if the young one is a female..she is weaned off her mother's milk very soon and the milk is sold away.

I have heard ppl say proudly "oh we are lucky...we always have female infants in the manger and male ones in the family"
This is what I meant when I said I dont agree wth u saying

the per capita income of india is 35k... and it costs a min of 3.5L to get a basic no-frills tractor... so thats like 10 years pay for an average indian (and villagers esp landless ones are often much poorer than the avg indian)....
so do your own maths.... a marginal farmer will pick up the male calf for free from the dairy... rear it on the farm wastes and then use it as a substitute

hey hiring a tractor is around rs300/ hour including the diesel . If a farmer has around 10 acres..how long is he going to take to plough that with oxens...and how many oxen?
and a farmer with a 10 acre bit..is a well placed guy and can get a tractor.
and a farmer with an acre will have to rear an ox (that he gets for free) for years to plough an acre twice a year or do u think he'd spend 2hrs*300 = rs600
and for twice a year 600*2=1200/=rs per annum.
//a marginal farmer will pick up the male calf for free from the dairy... rear it on the farm wastes and then use it as a substitute //
a marginal farmer may pick up the male calf and rear it and
give it on hire for crossing or for carts..hardly for using it in farms..maybe a stray one here or there may use..but it makes financial sense to use tractors .

unfuel the planet said...

//and a farmer with a 10 acre bit..is a well placed guy and can get a tractor.//
even the cash value of my inheritance will not that high...
yes it makes financial sense to own a tractor... but then the government can never do the mistake of teach economics to our farmers. :)) i can only imagine what will happen the day it does that mistake.

jersey cows are viable in some parts of the country.

hardly do the farmers maintain a herd to use for farming purposes...just one or two.
