Shopping - ' exclusively hers '

What is it with shopping and happiness? Is retail therapy for real ?

I think it is .I get a great deal of happiness while shopping...be it any place..it need not be any expensive place...even ordinary shops wld do...but the the crowd in the pavement shops is a bit too much to handle .

I feel if there is nothing purchased at the end of the session..it is waste of efforts..again if I have spent too much..I feel guilty. So it has to be in moderation.
Coming back home and looking at the purchases is another pleasure :)

A piece of advice..if there is one species that shd not be taken along while shopping its called 'human male' species . It has the potent ingredient called 'nagging' that can kill any shopping happiness. And just when u think u have found the rt dress and want to try it on...the species goes into the 'hunger mode' and wants lunch at 10:30 AM and all after it has gobbled down a dozen idlies.

If the species also happens to fall under the sub-category 'brother' then beware , it's the deadliest of the strains and may even resort to a volley of expletives in public .

So friends...enjoy shopping..leave the species behind....rt where it belongs...in front of the idiot box :))

btw...this is a 'humor' post :))

Hey Amit..
Are u talking abt the 8+ hrs u guys spend trying to make up ur mind as to which music system to go for when there are only 2 choices and stay in the same shop all the while :P

Lol...females have more patience, that helps them to look all of the things in a shop and still they can come out empty handed, confused.

we males...are more clear, and we do our research before buying anything.that makes our job easier, simpler.

p.s : this is just my personal opinion :)

:)) so u have to actually tell people that they need to laugh????

Hey Kamal..
coming empty handed is no problem..the idea is to enjoy the experience :)
and doing research before buying is not shopping..that's called picking it up :)

see yaa :)

Sree,
T.Nagar-la esp Ranganathan street-la I like to observe the people who come to do shopping. Most of them so engrossed with the goodies that they forget the outside world (read 'their little children'). And yes, the act of unpacking the new goodies at home is another joy. But above all, I just love to be in the crowd and observe the many many people and in this my favourite store is "Saravana Stores" (the one on Panagal park).

Btw, as Amit says, I think the differentiations between male/female with respect to shopping is shrinking. Men can also be equally bad ;-)

Ravi...u keep observing ppl who come to shop ? I dont even know what is happening around me while I shop :)
But dont u think Ranganathan street is very crowded ? That's the only thing that deters me.
Saravana stores must be really good..lot of ppl keep talking abt it.
I like places like Spencer plaza where u have a variety of shops and eateries (a mall, basically )

//I think the differentiations between male/female with respect to shopping is shrinking.//
good :)

Men can also be equally bad ;-) //

Well, the reason I like Saranava is for the choice and price range. You get bost expensive and cheap ones too. But what you have to withstand is the crowd! You need to have real good patience.
Ranganathan street is damn crowded - agreed! But isn't the crowd the highlight of Ranganathan street?

ha ha koozha? Anyway, indha summer-kku koozh nalladhu dhaane ;-)

Haw haw haw,

ROTFL. True, true, very true. And ask the "species" to choose between two colours, the duller version will be chosen.

I agree with you Sree. If you want to enjoy shopping never take a male with you. Not only they hate shopping themselves, they make sure you don't enjoy it either.

hundreds of thousand years back male Homo sapiens were on hunting spree while females with their babies on shoulder were collecting shells (sea food) and picking fruits (colorful!! color conscious?) as a food gathering practice and the habit hasn't died out... it is lingering even now and resonating in the form of shopping spree, exploring shop after shop, collecting pearls and diamonds (replacement to shells) and anything that interests them!
